Information for Visitors and Newcomers

  • What should I wear?
Please come in whatever makes you feel comfortable. You will be joined by folks in everything from t-shirts and jeans to suits.
  • Are your Sunday morning  activities “family friendly?”
Children are completely welcome in our worship service.  We enjoy the enthusiasm that young folks add to the atmosphere, so don’t worry that they will be out of place.  We also have “activity clipboards” for younger kids.
  • Is there childcare?
We have a nursery for ages 0-3 years and KIDS care for ages 3 thru 3rd grade.
  • Who will I meet?
Because we find value in and celebrate human diversity, we welcome people of every color, economic status, ability, nationality, gender and sexual orientation.  We seek to be in community with people regardless of where their search has taken them so far . . . the believers, the curious, the skeptics, the disillusioned, the disappointed.
  • What is your Worship Service like?
During the first half of our service we hear a few announcements about upcoming activities, sing some songs . . . both old and new and join together in prayer.  Next we take a short “ENTERMission” when we can get a cup of coffee, catch up with friends and learn about and participate in community outreach activities.  Finally, we sing some more and hear the morning message.(Click here for more specific information about our current Sunday Morning Program)
  • What about safety and security?
The congregation of Medford First United Methodist Church is committed to making our church a safe and secure place for all people at all times. While we usually rely on common social mores, common sense and Christian ethics to guide our actions towards each other, we believe that special consideration must be given to the most vulnerable of our church family: the children, youth and vulnerable adults. For this reason we have adopted the  “Safe Sanctuary Abuse Prevention Program” that provides rules to help create a safe and secure environment for all children, youth, vulnerable adults, volunteers, and staff who participate in church-sponsored activities.
  • I have special needs.
Wheelchair access into the building is located at the west end of our Laurel Street parking lot.  The sanctuary and the rest of the main floor of our building are also accessible.  Assistive listening devices are available for the hard of hearing.  You can always ask an usher for assistance and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.(Click here for a Google Maps link)
